WoundRounds is an electronic point-of-care documentation solution that incorporates cutting-edge technology to allow nurses and caretakers to track and monitor skin and wound issues. As a result, providers can minimize costs, reduce liability, and improve the quality of patient care.
Our solution was developed with the wound care clinician’s work flow in mind and as we continually improve our own technology, we are noticing the field of electronic documentation expand in other areas of the medical community.
In a web release on Friday [1], Nitin Chhoda, a physical therapist and doctor of physical therapy, explained how new technology will benefit physical therapy.
“Physical therapy documentation needs accurate details such as vital signs, progress reports, clinical assessment, recommended treatment modalities, and other patient information related to patient care.” Chhoda said.
If a hand written paper chart becomes disorganized, it may affect the accuracy of patient health data. This can later lead to issues regarding medical compliance rules and insurance claims processing.
With the new software, physical therapy clinicians are the greatest benefactors. They use an electronic device to input and review information, saving precious time by cutting out handwritten paperwork. This type of patient record management allows visits to be quickly documented and reviewed.
With similar products and systems being developed in the healthcare industry, is electronic documentation going to be a significant factor in the future of healthcare?
