Technology and innovation are changing nearly every industry in the United States, and healthcare is no exception
Americans downloaded more than 44 million health and healthcare related mobile apps in 2012, which shows that patients are seeking a technology based solution to their healthcare needs. For an industry that still does a lot of its work in pencil and paper adopting change has been difficult. Only 35 percent of hospitals have converted to electronic health records.
Technology is driving change amongst healthcare providers due to the demand from the public. One of the changes that patients and healthcare professionals can expect is in the area of record keeping. Dallas based company Axxess software offers a cloud-based system for nurses to update patient files and access information on treatment for almost any ailment.
The software also offers administrators with the option to schedule patient visits or send out bills to insurance providers. The company began as way to consolidate healthcare organization’s computers on a single network. It now provides a tool for doctors, nurses and office support staff. Axxess now serves 800 organizations across 40 states and assists in the care of 150,000 patients.
Innovation is arriving in the healthcare industry, which will help providers prevent avoidable mistakes and make the business of healthcare run more efficiently.
